A hand-knotted rug in the Shirvan tradition, known for its precise geometry and finely articulated motifs. Originating from the Shirvan region of the Caucasus (present-day Azerbaijan), these weavings are recognised for their clarity, structure, and strong graphic presence.
This piece features a compartmentalised field framed by multiple guard borders, with repeating geometric elements that reflect established village weaving patterns. The restrained palette, soft neutrals layered with deep red and black, gives it a more muted, contemporary sensibility while retaining its traditional character.
Ideal as an accent piece or layered textile.
153 x 105 cm
Hand-knotted wool on cotton foundation.
Good vintage condition, with light wear consistent with age
A grounded, character led textile, subtle in tone, but rich in detail.
